Angelique Kerber

Angelique Kerber is a German female professional tennis player. She is currently ranked 7 but will be moving up in the ranks after her victory today. Kerber beat the heavily favored number one ranked player Serena Williams today at the Australian Open. This is the first grand slam event that Kerber has won. Kerbers awesome defense really helped her defeat Serena.  One of the most notable things about Kerber is that like Rafael Nadal, she is also left handed. Hopefully Kerber can take this momentum into other tournaments throughout the year!

Rafael Nadal

My next blog is going to be on Rafael Nadal. Rafael Nadal is a Spanish professional  tennis player that was born on June 3, 1986. He is widely regarded as the "King of Clay" because of his 9 titles won at the French Open. Overall Rafael has won 14 grand slam titles. Rafael is 6 feet and 1 inches tall and he plays left handed which I find interesting because I also am left handed. Rafael's prize money is over 75 million dollars currently. His current ranked has dropped to number 5 in the world due to health and physical problems. I hope this little piece of information has helped you learn some about Rafael Nadal.

Roger Federer

To start my blog off I am going to talk about considerably one of the most famous male tennis players, Roger Federer. Many commentators and players think of Roger as the greatest tennis player of all time. Roger Federer plays for Switzerland and was born on August 8 1981. A side fact is that his birthday is two days after mine. Roger is married to Mirka Federer and they have two sets of twins, one set of boys and one set of girls. Federer has the record for most grand slams won at 17 and most consecutive weeks at number 1, 302 weeks. He has been ranked in the top 10 since October 2002. Rogers career earnings are currently over 97 million dollars. Roger is currently at a warm up tournament in Brisbane before competing in the Australian Open. The Australian Open starts on January 18. Some of the other top players going into this title are Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and Rafael Nadal.
